Starting a Library

What book would you give to a young person to begin their Christian library? Let's assume that they already have a Bible; what else should be on their shelf?

I'd love to generate a reading list of Christian books to share at church through our website (thanks for the idea, Tom M.). Add your comments below or on Facebook.

  1. "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn is one of my favorites.

  2. Copy that on "Heaven." Others (for young people or adults:
The Signature of Jesus - Brennan Manning
    The God I Don't Understand - Christopher J.H. Wright
What's So Amazing About Grace? - Philip Yancey
The Faith Once for All - Jack Cottrell (not a cover-to-cover book, but a great reference)
Every Man's Battle - Stephen Arterburn, Fred Stoker, Mike Yorkey
The Cross of Christ - John Stott (a little heavy but profound)
Where is God When it Hurts? - Yancey
The Celebration of Discipline - Richard Foster
    Mere Christianity - CS Lewis

That's a few off the top of my head.
