The BCS is Dumb

And that's coming from a Kansas fan. Kansas was rewarded for playing a weak schedule (like Georgia and Hawaii) and teams like Missouri got the short end of the stick. A Jayhawk fan could be celebrating the trip to the Orange Bowl right now but it's kind of hard to enjoy it when the system is so broken.

This convoluted, worthless system of college bowl games was doomed to hurt somebody. It doesn't work and won't work until they have 8, 12, or 16 games in a playoff system. Period.

It may be dumb (and I think it is) but it is great to see MU fans crying about not going. Don't get beat TWICE by OU and you are playing for the national championship. Or don't get smacked by OU in the 2nd half (24-3) and you are playing in the BCS. But the BCS is a messed up system, but I will take it this year!!

um...Kansas State was hurt a lot worse than Mizzou in 1998.

#1 in the Nation (12-1...and unlike KU, we had to travel and play a hostile highly ranked Texas team and we pounded them)...lost in triple OT to Texas A&M (top-10 team) in Big 12 Championship.

K-State dropped to #4 in the BCS after that.

BCS game? No.

Cotton or Holiday Bowl? No.

Alamo Bowl.

#4 in the BCS goes to the Alamo Bowl.

The system was broken long before Mizzou got burnt. At least they get a respectable bowl.

by the way you need to know what you are talking about before you just start talking trash to MU fans Bryan. KU is going to the Orange Bowl only because Perkins the AD guaranteed a certain amount of tickets to be sold by KU fans or purchased by the athletic department. It is a fact look it up. Plus, by rewarding KU for playing a soft schedule you just ruined college football and probably eliminated the Big-12 championship game. Way to go!!

I don't deny that it is being reported that Perkins guaranteed a certain amount of tickets. And whether or not it is against the rules, I have no idea. That wasn't what I was talking about. I could care less how KU got a BCS game. As a KU fan that lived in Missouri my entire life, all I have ever heard from MU fans was how they always are getting the raw end of the deal, football and basketball. They had a chance to control their destiny and they failed. All I was saying was I loved the fact that KU got a bcs game and MU was left out. Do I like the system...no, not at all. I would love to see a playoff where KU, MU, and OU were playing for a shot at the national championship.

As for you claim that because KU got a BCS game it has ruined college football, it is really funny to me. KU isn't the first team to be rewarded for playing a soft schedule. Look at Ohio State this year. They are playing for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and their non-conference slate included the tradional powers Youngstown State, Akron, Washington and Kent State. Now that the BCS doesn't put as much an emphasis on strength of schedule, you will continue to see teams around the nation playing a soft schedule. And there is no way that the Big 12 is eliminating the Championship game. There is way to much money in that game. And it is the reason why the Big 8 added 4 teams to make the Big 12. (Because you have to have 12 teams to have a conference championship game.)

Well said Bryan.

Chad is primarily saying that the whole thing is corrupt. Which it is. And has been for generations.

Let's hope they fix it.

The key problem is that the people who have control now will have to agree to have less control. And that's terribly unlikely.
