This is the best little explanation of who Che Guevara was that I've ever seen. The guy was a killer and a communist; his face represents the same kind of evil as Adolf Hitler. The irony is that he hated the freedom and the capitalism that brings you those "Che" t-shirts. In this country you're free to wear those shirts and free to be dumb enough to think they're cool.

But you don't have to stay ignorant.

Ready for Obama Socialism

We're just a few weeks away from a 30 year mistake. Why 30 years? Even if Obama only serves one term and, best case scenario: a Pelosi-Democrat Congress is voted out in 2 years, it'll still take 30 years to fix what a single-party government could do.

• 30 years to undo the rapid descent into European-style socialism.
• 30 years to replace Obama's new pro-abortion judges on the Supreme Court.
• 30 years to replace liberal federal judges.
• 30 years to excise the new bureaucracy from our health care.
  
• 30 years to rebuild our military (have you seen the other NATO armies?).
• 30 years to pay for Obama's redistribution of wealth.
• 30 years to rebuild our economy (it took 25 under FDR's "new deal" to finally get back to healthy).

By the way, you've got to love the communist-chic Obama posters floating around. Reminds me of Che Guevara, hmm…

Just in Case You Weren't Sure

Three out of four murdering communist revolutionaries support Hillary. Viva la Hillary! (And, dude, get a haircut.)


My question is this: Does Hillary, who is obviously(?) not communist, care that the far radical left lays claim to her or are they just more votes to her? Or perhaps the "Che Cult" is just a "harmless" reminder of the 1960's and the roots of the McGovernite Democrats?

Not Liberal Enough?

The first time I heard a liberal friend say that President Obama "isn't really very liberal," I almost fell out of my chair.  Not liberal?!  Or do you mean not liberal enough?  And not liberal enough for whom, Che Guevara?  Joseph Stalin?  Chairman Mao?  Not for one minute, do I believe that our President isn't a dyed-in-the-wool left-wing progressive.  But I'll admit that he's doing a terrible job of getting anywhere with that.  Here's my take on why:

First, he's a politician.  If he had been too blatantly left-wing he wouldn't have been elected by a population which has less than 20% who self-identify as liberal.  I think this explains his opposition to gay marriage and his declaration that the abortion issue was "above his pay grade."  He's savvy enough to pick his battles… usually.

Second, he's a terrible leader.  The man may be a condescending, Ivy-League intellectual who has strong socialist and revolutionary ideological roots… but he can't make the Washington machine actually do anything.  His liberal credentials were great – and in 2008 he captured the imagination of a lot people for a lot of reasons – but he's been completely ineffective, even when his party controlled both houses of congress.  What excuse does he have other than ineptitude?

So now, I'm hearing the buzz from all corners saying that the President has disappointed liberals.  Okay.  Here's my suggestion:  Run a third-party candidate.  If the Democrats are too moderate for you, go get a real revolutionary like Cynthia McKinney or even Al Gore or some other left-wing whack-a-doodle and run them for president against your own guy.  That's how conservative purists lose elections react to poor leadership.  Divide and be conquered!

Go for it!

Hug a Commie '07

I almost forgot that today was May Day (thanks for the reminder BlackFive). Like I've said before, if illegal aliens, leftists, communists, anarchists, and organized crime are all for it, how can it be wrong?

Right on cue, the protesters were out today, holding signs with the image of communist revolutionary Che Guevara, demanding open borders and the end to capitalism and democracy in general.

So in response I thought I'd remind you of the sharp wit of thoseshirts.com.

Oscar Madness (as usual)

The Oscar nominations are out.

That means it's time to remind ourselves that the most prestigious awards in cinema are selected largely by the most self-indulgent disconnected saps on the planet.

That's not to say that all Oscar nominations are off the mark. To the contrary most nominations and many winners, even for films that I personally find reprehensible, are usually well made in a technical sense. Many films have won Oscars for skillfully dragging the audience through the sewers… but at least it was admittedly "skillful." I may not consent to go along but I will concede when something is well done.

And, like the emperor's new clothes, some movies are just stupid but everyone's afraid to say so.

Nevertheless, I'm annually disappointed with the list. The Academy inexplicably favors some films and famously snubs other films, while sometimes doing both at the same time. This year the Batman movie, The Dark Knight, received 8 nominations but is not nominated for Best Picture. Go figure.

Here's what I liked or found interesting in this year's nominees:

• The five-hour communist love film, Che, received 0 nominations. Ha!
• Heath Ledger's name has been penciled in for best supporting actor since mid-summer last year. Everybody else is "just honored to have been nominated."
• I saw and absolutely loved all three animated feature films, Wall-E, Bolt, and Kung-fu Panda. We already own two of them.
  
• Wall-E has six nominations. Go Pixar!
• The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has been nominated for 13 awards. The record for wins is 11 (Ben-Hur, Titanic, Lord of the Rings).

Random Thoughts 10/13/05

• Several men from the church are going to a men's retreat at church camp this weekend. I'm looking forward to it but not real eager to be away from home overnight. I'll miss prayer time with the boys and evenings with my bride. I'll especially miss Elijah going to bed. He tottles over to me and gives me a big wet kiss and then stubles upstairs and attempts to climb into his crib. Words don't do justice to express how cute it is.
• I saw a few t-shirts online with pictures of communist revolutionary Che Guevara. They had captions that read, "Communism killed 100 million people and all I got was this lousy t-shirt." "This t-shirt brought to you by capitalism." and "Commies aren't cool." Made me giggle.
• 3500 posts! I've got friends (really, I do!) and family reading this in mulitple states (countries?). Thanks for reading my blog.
  
• One of the funnier things I've seen lately has been the "Cpt Wedley: Bn Diciplinator" video from last year (that's "Captain Wedley: Battalion Disciplinator" for the uninformed). Pretty funny stuff. You can find it at this site but only if you have Windows Media Player installed, which didn't work very well for me even on a cable connection. Go figure, it's windows; good luck with that. Still, it's worth the effort if you need a good laugh.
• The chain has been broken! The associate minister here at our church has been telling everyone the good news: they're expecting a girl! Among the three ministers that have been at Wyandotte, we've had seven boys and no girls, so this is welcome news. Shannon and I still have to wait a few more weeks to find out about Altic baby 4.0.
• Speaking of babies, I listened to a radio interview this morning with the proud parents of 16 children. And get this, they're planning number 17… [squints and rubs temples] …uh, yeah… that's reasonable. But with people like that, the rest of can have four or five without anyone batting an eye, right? Realistically, we're going to use our God-given, Spirit-led DISCERNMENT to determine if we ever go beyond the four we have now. And no, letting nature take it's course with zero application of wisdom is NOT necessarily "letting God decide." Using that logic, you could let God decide the length of your hair and see what happens. God must be anti-short-hair and every haircut must be a sinful defiance of God's Will for your follicles. Don't get me wrong, I'm for big families, but 17?! Let's be responsible stewards here. I'd bet that very few couples are truly called to go that far.
  
• And one more thing: look at what actually happened in the largest families of the Bible – almost nothing but bad news. So don't bite off more than you can chew! If there are so many children that Mom and Dad can't do the training they're called by God to do and instead you have siblings doing the parenting, then you ought to reconsider the wisdom of what's going on. </soapbox>
  
• Elijah is into scolding. He's can't really talk, but he'll wag his finger and give the cat a stern talking to in baby talk. Today he got onto another little kid whose mother lightly rebuked him for hitting her. Well, Eli goes over and sticks his fat little finger in this kid's face and begins dressing him down in gibberish. And he won't stop either; he's determined to talk you to death. I wonder where he gets that?
• I had a door-to-door Bible salesman visit me tonight at home. I told him he was preaching to the choir and sent him packing. Go bother the pagans next door. God bless!
