Chief Predictions

The Chiefs are in camp and both of their first round rookies have been hurt. Brodie Croyle is still the quarterback and Larry Johnson is still overpaid (especially with rookie RB Jamaal Charles being called the fastest player anybody has ever seen).

So what do you think? Do the Chiefs go .500 this year? Do they make the playoffs? Or are we looking at the Tim Tebow lottery?

I'm going to say 4-12 and a top-5 pick in the draft. And yes, Tim Tebow would be just fine with me. He can push the homeschool students in public school athletic programs issue here in Kansas and Missouri.

2 key issues here I have to address and I am not even going to touch the home-school issue.

First the chiefs going 4-12 is shot in the dark dream. They will be lucky to win 2 games this year. I think they are 1-15 but I'll say 2-14 just to be safe.

Second, seriously you would like Tebow? He throws a horrible ball and it's not like he'll be able to rush the ball in the NFL. The other QB in the NFL that came out of Urban Meyer's program is Alex Smith and I don't think he has faired that well. They need to concentrate on building from the lines out if they would like to be competitive. Also, if they are smart they should eat some of the contract on LJ and trade him for at least a 2nd round pick. Since they are pretty much worth more than 1st rounders given you don't have to pay them the big bucks. I think they have enough RB's and I don't forsee anyone being good enough in the first round to overtake Croyle eventhough he hasn't done anything. Pick up Chase Daniel or something in the 6th round and take a flier. I mean he has to be pretty good...He did beat the Jayhawks!!

Chiefs will be 3-13. Top 3 pick and this may be a dream, but I'm gonna call it right now. There will be a change in the front office. 2008 will be King Carl's last season as Chiefs GM. At least I hope it will be.

As far as Chase Daniels goes. It is far to small and not quick enough (he is a quick qb at the college level) to produce the way he has in the NFL. Talk about Tebow being a system guy...the spread is the only thing that Daniels can do. He will be another Jason White type of QB coming out of college. Huge numbers, disappointing pro career. Daniels knows this, or he would have declared this past year when the QB crop was thin to say the least. Wth all that said, Daniels will be a beast in the Big 12 this year (again), but will amount to nothing in the NFL.

Let's hope that someone will be worth a top 3 pick when we select next April
